Steve of Gloucester

Who says the narcissists are narcissistic?
In themselves they see the whole world,
like Steve the blue tit, who looks into the eye
of the police and sees everything he needs to know.
He contains the rolling fields on his breast,
the sun sets in his eye and the white lines
of the roads are the jib of his feathers.
You may think he is looking at himself
but he owns clouds in his plumes and a beak of silver.
Wait till the narcissist tweets the song of days.

Editor’s Note: Erwan Guerroué is an artist living and working in Paris. He was inspired by the tale of Steve, the bluetit who caused much confusion for the police by his love of watching himself close up in the CCTV lenses. Erwan sees this tale as an urban parable.
