Notorious “hellish” king of rock’n’roll Blackie Lawless had been shock-rocking the Heavy-Metal scene with his band W.A.S.P. for more than three decades, touring around the globe, living the lifestyle of a real rock star. Despite being on the top of the world he never gave up his passion searching for the true meaning to life, which he eventually re-discovered; in Jesus Christ. From that breaking point on Blackie’s music work has been stirred with the Holy spirit like never before.
Born into a Christian family, Stephen Edvard Duren left the church as an 18 years old with a rebellious outlook. Whilst studying Occultism, he dated a girl who was a witch. Then one day, he had a revelation, when he saw his girlfriend praying in the pentagram. For 20 years he had despised God and had been determined not to have anything to do with the religion, at that moment God’s grace opened his heart back again to Him. Since then Blackie has thrown himself deeper into Bible study, learning all the scriptural contents making his faith in Jesus Christ grow stronger. Gradually he became more secluded, and refrained from producing or even performing some of his band’s old songs, especially the ones that did not resonate with the Word of God.
“When you are in distress and all these things have come upon you, in the latter days you will return to the LORD your God and listen to His voice.” (Deuteronomy 4:30)
After notorious hits like, Animal ‘F**k like a Beast, L.O.V.E Machine, I Wanna Be Somebody, 9.5., Nasty, Wild Child, Thunder Red, the band released in 2009 ‘Babylon’ which covers the horrific stories from the Old Testament and New Testament of this infamous ancient Mesopotamian city. In 2015 W.A.S.P. came out with their fifteenth studio album ‘Golgotha’.
10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. ( 1 Peter 5:10)
W.A.S.P. have since 1982 sold over 12 million copies but what truly made this band so universally unique at the start of their career were shocking performances of tying half-naked models to a torture rack and throwing raw meat into the public at their concerts.
His hate for God was mirrored in his early 80’s discography where the band even had to discard a song ‘Animal (F**k Like a Beast)’ from the album for the US market to prevent it being excluded in the stores.

Therefore, thus says the LORD, “If you return, then I will restore you– Before Me you will stand; And if you extract the precious from the worthless, You will become My spokesman. They for their part may turn to you, But as for you, you must not turn to them. (Jeremiah 15:19)
The album title ‘Golgotha’ in the Hebrew language means ‘Place of Skull’ a hill in Jerusalem where Jesus Christ was crucified two thousand years ago.
